Prices peaked at 3800gns at the Ruthin Texel Club’s sale, with the top call coming for Robert Cockburn’s ram lamb, Knap Grizzly Bear.
This son of Haddo Falcon, which has already bred sons to 170,000gns and 100,000gns this year, is out of a Pant Ida-bred dam by Millars Drive and was knocked down to James Draper for the Claybury flock.
Taking the next best price of 1700gns in the ram lambs was Hen Gapel Goliath from John Llewelyn Owen. He’s by New View Fire Cracker and out of a dam by Mullan Deva Vu and sold to G W Jones, for the Erw flock, Corwen.
Following him at 1500gns was Treceiri Gambler from Ifor Hughes. This one is be Peniel Evolution and out of a dam by Teilo Brynmor and was taken by T H Roberts, Rhewl.
A 1400gns call came next for Claybury Governor from James Draper. He’s by Clanfield Firecracker and out of a dam by Strathbogie Cannonball. Selling with a terminal index in the top 25% of the breed, he found a new home with B L, A M and O P Jones, LLannor.
And making 1300gns was another from Robert Cockburn, Knap Gucci. He’s by Haddo Fabio and out of a dam by the 140,000gns Knap Vicious Sid and sold to Messrs Gibbs, Bettonfield.
Shearling rams
Shearling tup trade hit a high of 1800gns for Caron Full Throttle from the Williams family whose Caron flock dominated the high prices. He’s by Hilltop Envy and out of a dam by Forkins Vodka and sold to W A Jones, Groes.
Then at 1750gns was Caron Frisky Whisky from the same home. He’s another by Hilltop Envy and is this time out of a dam by Tullylagan Commander. This one found a new home with Sion Jones, Glanrafon.
A 1500gns sale followed that for Caron Firecracker. He’s yet again by Hilltop Envy and is out of another Comander daughter. Buying him was P F Mellor, High Peak.
A quartet then sold at 1200gns, the first of which was again from the Caron flock in the form of Caron Flaming Hot. He’s by Tullylagan Commander and out of a Knap Waverly daughter and was knocked down to P S Thoms, Pontrug.
Second at this level was Erw Freestyle from G W Jones, with this being a Craig Douglas Davinci son out of a dam by Baltier Amalad. He headed away with I T and H M Jones, Saron.
The next to make 1200gns was Maedy Franco from Esmor Evans. This son of Caron Dynamite is out of an Auchry Boris daughter and sold to A Evans, Rhoshirwaun.
And the fourth and final shearling at this price was Maerdy Fabian, another by the 32,000gns Dynamite and out of a Garngour Ambassador daughter. He was the pick of I P G Watkins and Son, Rhayader.

Topping the gimmer trade at 900gns was CKP2206641 from Robert Cockburn, Knap. She’s by Lakeview Earn Your Keep and out of an Auldhouseburn Billy The Kid daughter and sold to D I Jones, Rhostyllen.
Second best at 820gns was LTC2206575 from Robert Laird and family. This one is by the homebred Cambwell Exocet and out of a dam by Strathbogie Umpire. She found a new home with J V Jones, Llansadwrn.
E G Thomas Wydden flock then took 750gns for TEG2201296, a Humeston Eye Of The Storm daughter out of a dam by Millars Dalton, with this one bought by previous buyer, D I Jones.
