Society Rules & Regulations

On becoming a member of the Society, each member accepts the Society rules and conditions.

The Society rule book is set out in the Articles of Association, supported by a set of bye laws 1-12:

Articles of Association November 2023

Bye-Laws 1 – 10 General Rules – March 2026

Bye Laws 11 – 12 Conditions of Sale and Show entry – March 2026

While sales are either organised by the Society centrally or by the clubs regionally, all are conducted under a standard set of conditions, under the auspices of the Society. However, there are a wide variety of sales held for Texel stock, with some private sales not held under the Society Auspices but may be catalogued by the Society. Vendors and purchasers are encouraged to identify the conditions of sale as printed on the sales catalogue, prior to entering or purchasing stock.

The Society’s warranty of sale are available on the following links.

England and Wales – Animal Warranty (LAA Rules) for all sales held under the Society auspices held in England and Wales.

Scotland – Animal Warranty (IAAS Rules) for all sales held under the society auspices in Scotland

Northern Ireland – Animal Warranty (Ballymena Mart Rules) for the Northern Ireland national sale only

The local auctioneer “conditions of sale” apply for “warranty of stock” for sales held in Northern Ireland. Please check with the relevant sale auctioneer.
