Northern Ireland Texel Breeders Club members and friends enjoyed a great open night event earlier this summer, hosted by Alan and Rachele Glendinning’s Lylehill flock.
The evening combined viewing high‑quality stock, stock judging and genuine camaraderie. Set against the backdrop of one of Northern Ireland’s most respected flocks, the event offered visitors an engaging mix of social entertainment and charitable purpose.
Guests were welcomed with a tour of the Lylehill flock, where the Glendinning family had their ewe lambs, ram lambs, and breeding females on view.
Following that, visitors had the opportunity to put their judging skills to the test, drawing enthusiastic participation across all age groups.
Winning the under 16 class was Jack Whyte, with Harry Davidson in second spot and Harry Thompson taking third.
Meanwhile, the over 16s was won by Reshida Murray, Nigel Ross was second and third went to Alistair Hall.
The evening was rounded off by a barbeque and charity auction, raising valuable funds for Chest, Heart and Stroke. The auction showcased remarkable generosity from breeders and businesses across the region and thanks go to Micky O’Kane for giving his time to auction off the donated items. Every contribution helped raise valuable funds for Chest, Heart and Stroke, reinforcing the strong charitable ethos within the Texel community.
