Texel breeders across the country have continued to enjoy interbreed success at recent shows, with the Alford family taking the interbreed title at Royal Cornwall Show with aged tup Midlock You’re The One.
This ram, purchased for £23,000 at Kelso last autumn, is shared with John Elliot, Roxburgh and Jonathan Watson, Brijon, and is by Midlock Wilson, a sire which is in turn by the 18,000gns Sportsmans Unbeatable, and is out of a dam by Douganhill Monarch.
And, at Honey Show it was the turn of Ashley Anderson and son, Harley, to take the top title with their Texel ram lamb NDY1800203.
This son of Strathbogie Yes Sir is out of an ewe which is by Strathbogie Untouchable she also bred the 42,000 Strathbogie Your Tupped. He was the winner of the ram lamb class before going on to be male champion and subsequently overall champion.
