Solway and Tyne Sale hits 9000gns high

A top call of 9000gns was the stand out moment of the Solway and Tyne Texel Club’s in-lamb sale at Carlisle on Friday (13 December) which recorded an 84% clearance rate.

Taking this top call was a 2016-born ewe from Edward Pugh’s Glanllyn flock, PUG1600788, an ET-bred daughter of Glenside Wild Boy out of a dam by Tullagh Saracen and sold in-lamb to Plasucha Big Gun. This one sold to join the Sportsmans flock of Messrs Boden and Davies, Cheshire.

Second best at 1800gns was the best of the sale from Robbie Wilson’s Milnbank pen, LYM1803128. This Holylee Acrobat daughter is out of a dam by Aman Vyrnwy and sold carrying to Knock Yardsman. This one was bought by Messrs Kenny, Co Galway, Eire, having stood reserve champion in the pre-sale show.

Then selling for 1600gns was another from the same home, the last of the run, LYM1803055, a Strathbogie Yes Sir daughter out of a dam by Glenside Valhalla and in-lamb to Ellen Valley Caesar. She was knocked down to Messrs Williams, Lampeter, Dyfed.

Close behind at 1500gns was a Hilltop gimmer from Kenny Pratt. This was PKH1801744, an ET-bred daughter of Crailloch Ammunition and out fo a dam by Glenside Valhalla. Selling in-lamb to Garngour Alabama, she was taken by Thomas Pateman, Brompton By Sawdon, Scarborough.

A brace then followed at 1200gns, with the first being from the Glanllyn consignment of Edward Pugh, PUG170899, a one-lamb ewe by Stainton Vantage and out of a dam by Strathbogie Python. She again sold in-lamb to Plasucha Big Gun and was bought by Messrs Jones, Gelingwm, Carms.

The next at this level was Cameron Gauld’s best of the sale, GCF1803160, a Garngour Alladin daughter out of a dam by Milnbank Van Wilder and in-lamb to Auchry Chancer. She sold to Messrs Wilson, Hawick, Roxburhgshire, having stood fourth in the pre-sale show. 

And at 1100gns was one from Robert Cockburn’s Knap flock, CKP1802705. This Mullan Amigo daughter is out fo a Springwell Vierra daughter and was offered having been served by Sportsmans Cannon Ball. She was taken by Messrs Jones and Sons, Talsarn, Lampeter.

Also selling for this money was another from Robbie Wilson, LYM1803275, another by Strathbogie Yes Sir and out of a Glenside Valhalla daughter. She sold carrying to Ellen Valley Caesar and was the pick of Messrs Jones, Marianglas, Gwynedd.

Averages; six aged ewes £2371.25, 58 gimmers £629.45, eight ewe lambs £291.37 (Harrison and Hetherington).
