Robert Bennett’s Plasucha flock was the starring consignment at the Shropshire and Borders Texel Club in-lamb sale, Welshpool, last week, taking the top call in both the gimmer and ewe lamb sections.
Leading the way in the gimmers at 3800gns was BFE1808014, a daughter of the homebred Plasucha All Star and out of a dam by Eden Valley Wiz Kid. This one, in-lamb to Millhouse Cyclone has an index in the top 25% of the breed and sold to Jeremy Theyer, Cheltenham.
Second best at 2000gns was a gimmer from Robert Pierce’s Oldford flock, Cheshire. This was PRE181082, a Gyrhos Andy daughter out of a dam by Tullylagan Tonka and in-lamb to knock Yanklee. She was bought by G Richardson, Whixall, Shropshire.
And then at 950gns was one from the Draper family’s Claybury flock, DHL1801349, a Strathbogie Youi daughter out of a ewe by Stainton Vantage II and in-lamb to Strathbogie Cannonball. She found a new home with R C Ellis, Fford, Llaneurgain.
Following her at 800gns was the best of the evening from Daniel Jones’ Aldan flock, JDY1800697. This Donrho Aristocrac daughter is out of a Sportsmans Trojan II-sired dam and sold carrying to Sportsmans Boom. She was the pick of Steve and Helen Smith for the Penparc flock, Welshpool.
Also at this price was another from the Claybury consignment, DHL1801349, a twin-born Strathbogie Youi daughter out of a Stainton Vantage II daughter and in-lamb to the homebred Claybury Crusader. This one with an index in the top 25% was knocked down to N E and J A Gibbs, Betton Strange.
In the ewe lambs the Plasucha flock secured the top call of 1400gns for a lamb by Donrho Aristrocrac and out of a Blasucha All Star daughter, with this April-born ET lamb, BFE1909316, selling to M Oare, Pantrgroes, Brynfford.
Close behind at 1300gns was another from the same home, BFE1909269. Similarly bred, being by Aristocrac and out of an All Star-sire dam, she went home with G Sinclair, Lyth, Scotland.
The same buyer then paid 1000gns for another lamb from the same pen, BFE1909270. She’s a full sister to the 1300gns lamb.
And at the same price was BFE1909283, another full ET sister to the last two. She found a new home with A Prince, Little Stetton.
