As the Christmas break approaches, the seasonal in-lamb sales are reaching the halfway mark, with demand having been strong at all sales so far and averages at most sales rising significantly.
Fear not though, there is still a plethora of sales still to come across the UK, giving you a range of opportunities to add new genetics to your flocks.
Upcoming sale dates and catalogues can be found on the sales page of the Society website and every pedigree can be interrogated via the Society’s iTexel database, meaning you can simply delve deeply into the breeding and performance data available on every animal being offered for sale.
Sales performance in recent weeks has achieved:
- Average prices jump by as much as 45%
- Average increase of 28% across the fixtures
- Trade has reached a high point of 22,000gns at the Select Seven Sale
- Clear demand for the best of the sheep on offer at every sale.
Other sales have seen highs of 2800gns at Carlisle, 3500gns at Thainstone, 2000gns at Bakewell, 2100gns at Worcester and 1500gns at Melton Mowbray, with both new and existing breeders fighting it out to secure the sheep they want.
