Hawkeye daughter spots the prizes at Northern Ireland National

Adrian Liggett’s Corbo flock made it back-to-back wins at the Northern Ireland National Show, Armagh, when he clinched his second championship in a row at the event with his gimmer, LIG2500924.

Sired by the 10,000gns Forkins Hawkeye, the same sire as his ewe lamb winner from last year, this one is out of a dam by Mullan Game Changer and picked up the female championship under judge Harry Wilkinson, Arkle, before being tapped out as the overall championship winner.

Reserve overall spot stayed in the female classes, with this honour going to Mark Priestley’s reserve female champion and winner of the open ewe lamb class, PRQ2603429. This one is by the 15,000gns Hilltop Icon and out of a dam by Auldhouseburn Gazza.

Taking the day’s male championship title was Alastair Gault with his shearling ram, Ballynahone Istabraq. Sired by Sportsmans Grand Slam and out of a dam by Garngour Emerald, this one is shared with John Trimble, Curley.

Following him through from the shearling ram class to take the reserve male title was James Herdman’s Longstone Iron Man. He’s by the 10,000gns Coniston Equinox and out of an Usk Vale-bred dam by Cressage Enforced.

Back in the first class of the day, the aged ewes, the winner was Naomi and Ryan O’Hare’s one-crop ewe ERX2400836, with this one being by Claybury Dunkirk and out of a dam by Ballykeel Eggle Piggle.

In the aged rams it was John and Troy Watson who took the red ticket with their homebred ram Duvarren Future, with this being a son of the homebred Duvaren Colarado and out of a dam by Duvarren Winston.

Then the March-born ewe lambs were won by Mark Priestley with PRQ2603477. She’s a daughter of Duncryne Hakuna Matata and out of a Knap-bred dam by New View Electrifying.

Winning the early-born ram lambs was Adrian Liggett’s LIG2601025, another by the 2024 Northern Ireland National Sale champion, Forkins Hawkeye. He’s out of a Mullan Game Changer daughter, this time going back to a Kerryhill ewe.

Mark Priestley was back among the tickets for the late-born ram lambs, taking top spot with his lamb PRQ2603474. Again by Hilltop Icon, his dam is a daughter of the 80,000gns Procters El Presidente.

And in the day’s YDP class the winner was Jack Hunter’s ewe lamb XHJ2601783, with this one being by The Rock Illegal and out of a dam by Harestone Fast N Furious.
