Topping Sunday’s North West Texel Breeders Club sale at J36 was ram lamb Eden Valley Expresso from Richard Wilson, Appleby. This second prize winner from the Great Yorkshire Show sold at 3000gns and is by Craig Douglas Dancer and out of a Knock Yankee ewe, this was purchased by Keating and Henery, Buttercross flocks, having stood third in the pre-sale show.

Second best in the tup lambs was a 2000gns bid for Ettrick Emu, a Claybury Dunkirk son from Gordon Gray and purchased by Katie Birkett, Burton in Kendal. Closely following this at 1800gns was Sportsman E Z Rider who is sired by Garngour Detroit and consigned by Boden and Davis and purchased by H J Driver.
Selling at 2000gns was the day’s pre-sale champion, a gimmer from Thomas Ayrton of the Ayrton flock. This Garngour Alabama daughter is out of a Knap Vicious Sid ewe and sold to Robert Garth and Sarah Priestley, Bentham.
The Sportsman flock also enjoyed a successful day with gimmers selling to 2000gns for a Garngour Craftsman Daughter, with another gimmer sired by the same sire selling to 1800gns.
Shearling rams were also well sought after, with the consignment from Robert Laird and family of the Cambwell flock selling to 1300gns, 1200gns and 1100gns. Also achieving 1300gns was Myfyr Evans of the Rhaeadr flock, this was closely followed by 1200gns from James Porter with Teilo Dyfalbarhad.
Meanwhile, ewe lambs peaked at 800gns from Guy Reed of the Alpha flock with this paid for a daughter of Auldhouseburn Billy the Kid.
Averages; 34 shearling rams £716, 88 ram lambs £615, 1 aged ewes £472.50, 79 gimmers £747, 26 ewe lambs £470 (North West Auctions).
