The reduction sale of the Claybury flock for the Draper family took most of the leading prices at the Shropshire and Borders Club’s in-lamb sale, topping the trade at 2800gns.
Sale topper was the Rhaeadr Explorer daughter, DHL2202035. She’s out of a Stainton Vantage II daughter and sold in-lamb to Claybury Gladiator when bought by Stephen Cobbald for the Lavenham flock, Suffolk.
Second in line at 2000gns was DHL2202017, a full ET sister to the sale topper and this time in-lamb to Haddo Fabio. Buying this one were G D and N Williams, for the Caron flock, Lampeter.
At the same money was a Strathbogie Cannonball daughter, DHL2202077. She’s out of a Stainton Vantage II daughter and sold with a top 5% index and in-lamb to Ettrick Fu Fighter when bought by Nick Woodmass, for his Harene flock, Cumbria.
Two then made 1800gns, with the first being the two-lamb ewe DHL2001640. Sired by Strathbogie Cannonball she is out of a dam by Scholars Yahoo and was offered in-lamb to Knap Grizzly Bear. She was another bought by the Williams family, Caron.
The other to make this money was DHL2202028, a gimmer by Mellor Vale Dakota and out of a Scholars Yahoo daughter. In-lamb to Claybury Gladiator she was knocked down to previous buyer Stephen Cobbald.
Close behind at 1700gns was DHL2202003 another by Dakota and out of a Scholars Yahoo-sired dam. In-lamb to Ettrick Fu Fighter she was taken by young breeders Ffion and Erin Davies for their Severn View flock, Caersws.
A brace then traded at 1600gns, with the first being DHL2101945 a one-lamb ewe by the homebred Claybury Delta Force. She’s out of a Wilodge Bravo-sired dam and was sold in-lamb to Ettrick Fu Fighter. Buying her was Giles Pyman, Thacka, Penrith.
The second at this price was DHL2202022. Another gimmer by Mellor Vale Dakota, she is out of a Strathbogie Cannon Ball daughter, she was again in-lamb to Fu Fighter and found a new home with R C Ellis, Rhosmoor, for the Eglur flock.
And making 1500gns was DHL2202064, she’s another by Strathbogie Cannon Ball and out of a Stainton Vantage II daughter. With a top 25% texelplus index, she sold in-lamb to Cowal Firepower and was bought by the Williams family, Caron.
Outwith the Claybury reduction the best seller was a ewe lamb from Ben Lowe’s Rue Wood flock, LWE2300540. Sired by Teiglum Firestarter she is out of a dam by Anglezarke Uno and sold to join M Jenkins, Llanrhystud, Ceredigion.
A pair then made 1000gns, with the first being an Owl Valley ewe lamb from Joseph Williams, WPH2304920. Sired by Rhaeadr Entrepreneur she is out of a Clinterty Yogi Bear daughter and was knocked down to previous buyer Giles Pyman.
The other to make 1000gns was a one-lamb ewe from Daniel Jones’ Aldan flock, JDY2101132. This Sportsmans Boom daughter is out of a dam by Castlecairn Vavavoom and sold in-lamb to Clanfield Gladiator. She was bought by G W Jones, Llanfair Caereinion.
Averages; 24 aged ewes £827.40, 57 gimmers £800.39. 13 ewe lambs £535.50 (Welshpool Livestock Sales).
