YDP committee seeks new members

Nominations are open for two seats on the Society’s Youth Development Programme committee, to represent young members in in Area A, Scotland and Area D, Wales.

The committee position for Area A, Scotland, will become vacant as the current term of committee member David McKerrow, Uppermill and Tillycairn flocks, is coming to an end. David is not standing for a further term as he will take up the Area One – North of Scotland seat on the Society Board of Directors at the Society AGM in November. The Society would like to take this opportunity to thank David for his hard work on the YDP committee and look forward to having him on the Society Board.

The committee position for Area D, Wales, is currently taken by Will Davis, Usk Vale flock. Will is not standing for a further term. The Society would like to take this opportunity to thank Will for all of his hard work on the YDP committee since 2017.

The Texel YDP committee is an elected representative subcommittee which reflects the views of young Texel breeders from across the UK. Consisting of five elected members under the age of 35 who are full members of the Society or are  actively involved with a full member’s flock. The committee meets during the year to discuss and develop new activities for the Society’s young members and coordinate members from regional club’s in developing youth activities.

If this is something you are interested in being involved in, please complete a Nomination form; including a proposer and seconder from two full members of the Society that reside in the regional area up for election, a 300-word manifesto and photograph of yourself here.

If more than one nomination is received for each area, all relevant Society members will be notified and asked to vote for their preferred representative.

The successful nominee will join the committee for the three year term and will be able to further develop and influence new initiatives and help progress the existing initiatives for the benefit of the Society.  With more projects being discussed and developed, along with the 50thanniversary celebrations next year. It is an ideal opportunity to contribute to our Texel Youth Development Programme.
