Saturday’s Winter Warmers in-lamb sale at Melton Mowbray saw a top call of 800gns for a Peacehay gimmer from the Chave family.
Sale leader was CFP2202897, a Strathbogie Epic daughter out of a dam by Clarks Wizard and sold carrying to Teilo Fendigedig. She is from the same family as the 12,000gns Peacehay Blaze of Glory and sold to Toby Green, Heckington, for the Wesbaxter flock.
Following her at 650gns were a brace of gimmers from the Heyworth Lodge flock of Jennifer Lodge. The first of these was LSH2201002, a Claybury Dunkirk daughter out of a Glanllywn-bred dam by Eden Valley Wiz Kid and sold carrying to Haymount God Father. She was the pick of M J Dickens, Milton Keynes.
Second at this price was LSH2200976 from the same home, with this one being by Cambwell Dynamite and out of an Alwent You’re the One daughter. Sold in-lamb to Haymount God Father, she found a new home with Messrs Claridge, Middle Clayton.
Another from the same home then sold at 620gns, with this being LSH2201005. She’s another by Claybury Dunkirk and is out of a Moseley-bred dam by Garngour Alabama. Again in-lamb to God Father she was taken by P J Haynes and Son, Thorpe Langton.
Then making 580gns was another from the Chave family’s Peacehay offering, CFP2202791. This Clarks Wizard daughter is out of a dam by Peacehay Ya Belter and sold in-lamb to Teilo Fendigedig. Buying her was E Barlow, Rowsham, Aylesbury.
And at 550gns was CFP2202960 from the same home. She’s by Clarks Wizard and out of a Scrogtonhead U Stoater daughter. Again in-lamb to Fendigedig and went home with previous buyer Toby Green.
Also at this money was the best of the ewe lambs, CSV2303880 from Stephen Cobbald’s Lavenham flock. This Stumo Cross Flame daughter is out of a Charben Dreamer daughter. She was knocked down to Messrs Woodbridge and Wallis, Wadenhoe.
