Northumberland-based Texel breeder Hans Porksen is offering his Wallington flock for sale privately ahead of this year’s lambing.
The flock, which was established in 2008, has always focussed on performance recording and producing rams fit to work in commercial environments across the north of England and Southern Scotland.
Ewes are available as individuals or groups and are priced according to texelplus index, explains Mr Porksen. “Having been involved in sheep breeding for all my life the time has come to take things easier and give others the opportunity to take our genetics forward.
“Over the history of the Wallington flock I have been passionate about breeding functionally correct animals with high performance genetics which can deliver prime lambs capable of earning premium prices in either live markets or deadweight schemes. Many of the females on offer are in the top 5% of the breed, with a good number in the top 1%.
“The ewes are due to lamb from early March and are in-lamb to high index sires from a number of noted flocks. I would recommend them to anyone and welcome enquiries.”
