Texels pushing prime trade again

Texels have doiminated the prime sheep trade again in the last week, with cull ewes in particular setting new highs at many markets in the run up to Ramadam which is expected to run from 2nd April to 1st May.

Here the hogget trade saw Texels hitting £158 twice and selling to a high of 351p/kg, while cull rams reached £240.

And at Melton Mowbray Texels again drove the cull ewe trade, hitting £230 a head for the best, with others trading at just shy of £200 too.

Meanwhile, Lanark saw cull ewes hitting £268 apiece, with others at £256 a head, twice.
