Texel Society to trial Marteye developments

A number of upgrades and new developments to the market leading Marteye online auction platform will be trialled during the Texel Sheep Society’s National Sales this August and September.

The move follows collaborative work between the two organisations aimed at delivering an improved user experience for those unable to attend Society sales and those wishing to review sales afterwards.

Central to the new developments is the establishment of a Texel Society portal on Marteye, housing three of the Society’s upcoming National sales on one easy to access landing page.

Allied to this is the collating of clips of every lot sold and real time statistical information on sales. In addition, full sale reels will be available to watch post-sale enabling anyone to review every lot sold at their leisure.

Marteye’s Mark McGann said the changes would bring greater flexibility for users and enable them to use Marteye as a more interactive resource in the longer-term.

“The growth we’ve seen in Marteye usage since we launched has been phenomenal and as more and more people use the platform to watch and bid on sales, so the clamour for increased services has grown.

“These latest developments, which will be trialled for the Scottish, Northern Ireland and English National Texel sales, are the next exciting step in providing a greater depth of information for vendors, potential buyers and anyone with an interest in livestock sales.

“We are grateful to the three auctioneers concerned, Lawrie and Symington, J A McClelland and Sons and McCartneys for working with us to enable these new developments to be implemented.”

Welcoming the partnership Texel Sheep Society chief executive John Yates said it was great to be working with another forward-thinking business to develop services for breeders. “The Texel Society is proud to be involved in trialling these new initiatives which will bring enhanced opportunities for Society members to showcase their stock.

“These developments will enhance what is already a great, user-friendly platform and increase the resources available to those with an interest in the Texel breed.

“The Society is excited to have been involved in this collaboration, helping to lead by providing experience to benefit the wider livestock sector,” he added.
