A 68,000gns call for Harestone Jagerbomb from Stuart Barclay, Aberdeenshire, was the lead call at the Scottish National Texel Sale, Lanark, where ram lambs met a solid demand to result in a 78% clearance and an average of £4377.74.
Taking the day’s top price, Jagerbomb is an ET-bred lamb by the 55,000gns Auldhouseburn Illusion and out of a dam by Lylehill GTR. He sold after frenetic bidding to join the Sportsmans and Mellor Vale flocks of Charlie Boden and family, Stockport.
Second best of the day at 28,000gns was Ettrick JFK from Gordon Gray, Selkirk. He’s by Sadlerhead Fury and out of a dam by Midcombe Brigadier and sold with a top 25% index when bought by Thomas Ayrton, Ayrtons and Alan Clark, Garngour, having been in the first prize pen of three in the pre-sale show.
Then came a brace at 26,000gns, the first of which was Auldhouseburn Jings from Alan Blackwood. Sired by the 110,000gns Midlock Inferno, this one is out of a dam by the homebred Auldhouseburn Fancy Pants and was the pick of Allan and Susan Campbell for the Drymsinie flock, Lochgoilhead, with a half share retained by his breeder.
The other at this price was Knap Jumping Jack Flash from Robert Cockburn, with this being a son of Duncryne Hakuna Matata out of a dam by 100,000gns seller Knap General Lee. He was knocked down in a two-way split to Robbie Wilson, Milnbank and Kevin Crawford, Bandley, both Aberdeenshire.
Next best at 22,000gns was the best of the day from Jack Arnott and family’s Haymount pen, Haymount Jumanji. This one is by Rue Wood Indiana and out of a dam by the £120,000 Strathbogie Gladiator and was bought by James Theyer, Clanfield, Oxon and Archie and Harry Stamp, Bowbridge, Somerset.
Close behind at 20,000gns was the champion from the pre-sale show, Garngour Jackal from Alan Clark and family. He’s a son of Ayrton’s Icon and out of a dam by Sportsmans Grand Slam. Selling with a top 5% index, this was another shared by two breeders, with Stuart Barclay, Harestone and Kenny Pratt, Hilltop, both taking half each.
Two then followed at 12,000gns, with the first of these coming from Robert Cockburn in the form of Knap Jazz It Up. He’s by Harestone Incredible Hulk, an 80,000gns purchase last year, and is out of a dam by Seaforde Empire King. He found favour with Alan Blackwood for the Auldhouseburn flock, Muirkirk.
The other taking a 12,000gns call was Tillycairn Jackpot from David McKerrow Jnr. This is a son of the 65,000gns Auldhouseburn Imperial King and out of a dam by the 30,000gns Clanfield Golden, with this one heading to Shropshire with John Sherratt.
After that came a pair of 10,000gns sales. Taking the first of these calls was Teigum Jupiter from Andrew Clark. Sired by Brackenridge Fly Half, he’s out of a dam by Forkins Fancy and was biught by Messrs Gray, Scrogtonhead and the Graham family, Craigdarroch.
Tillycairn Jaguar from David McKerrow Jnr was the second at 10,000gns, with this being another by Auldhouseburn Imperial King and out of a Clanfield Golden daughter. Buying this one was Gordon Gray, Ettrick.
Stuart Barclay was back in the money when taking 9000gns for Harestone Jack of All Trades, a full ET brother to the day’s sale topper at 68,000gns. He headed off in a three-way split, with John Eirian and Lynwen Davies, Teilo, Hywel and Nia Davies, Aman and Keith and Andrew Campbell, Overburns, all taking shares.
Also at 9000gns was Auldhouseburn Juggernaut from Alan Blackwood. This son of Midlock Inferno is out of a dam by Haymount Fan Dabi Dozi and was the pick of the Teward family for the New View flock, Darlington.
A third 9000gns sale came for Teiglum Jamboree from Andrew Clark, with this Tirnageeragh Ideal son being out of a Seaforde Egyptian Warrior daughter and selling with a top 5% index. Buying this one were Danny Hair, Drumbreddan and Messrs MacGregor, Dyke.
Then came an 8500gns bid for another Teiglum lamb, Teiglum Jacobite. This is another by Tirnageeragh Ideal and this time is out of a dam by Mullan Governor. He found new homes with a quartet of breeders; James Porter, Saltcotes, Spiros Spyrou, Gib Farm, Peter Woof, Stainton and Robert Pierce, Oldford.
And at 8000gns was Garngour Jethro from Alan Clark. This son of Ayrtons Icon is a full ET brother to the 20,000gns Garngour Jackal. Buying this one in a shared deal were Robbie Wilson, Milnbank and the Knox family Haddo.
Also at this money was Cambwell Jedi from Robert Laird and family. This one is by Deveronvale Fastrac and out of a dam by the homebred Cambwell Godfather. Selling with a top 5% index he headed away with Messrs Williams for the Dinam View flock, with a half share retained.
Females
A select entry of females topped at 2500gns for a ewe lamb from the MacPherson family’s Hexel flock, MZH2601421. She’s by the homebred Hexel Inter Milan and out of a dam by Ballynahone Franco and sold to John MacKenzie, Saddel Glen.
