Royal Highland Show 2014
Judging takes place on Friday 20th June at 9.00am
Judge: Yves Lacroix – Le Melceney Texel – French Texel Society

Le Melceney Texel registered flock was established in 1955 by Guy Lacroix who was Yves’ father. Yves came back to the family farm in 1989.
At the beginning of his career he acted as a technician at the Verdilly’s sheep centre (individual trial and Ai centre – Texel and Ile de France meat breeds).
He has also worked for the Billard family at the Fontaine Olive Texel flock for five years. During his time there he had to get the 500 registered Texels clear of Maedi Visna.
Nowadays Yves breeds 6 stock mares, 3 Ardennes and 3 French Saddle Horse, 35 Aubrac Beef cows and 140 top Texel ewes. He has begun to supply local consumers with his farm produced beef and mutton meat. Yves has been a member of the Texel Society Board for many years and his animals are often rewarded at the national shows.
His daughter Berangère spent a training period at a Northern Ireland Texel farm when she was graduating a Masters degree in agronomy. His wife, Marie-Chantal, is a nurse at the local Hospital, and as a daughter of a former Texel breeder she is happy to provide help and advice on the farm as is Yves eldest son Cyril. Yves is sure their youngest son Benjamin will also follow suit.
Yves is pleased and honored to be invited to judge the Texel classes at the Royal Highland Show 2014, the Texel Society’s 40th Anniversary year.
