The Teilo flock of John Eirian and Lynwen Davies swept the board in the Dyfed Texel Club flock competition, winning the large flock section, the gimmer class and the lamb class and going on to claim the overall championship under judge James Draper of the Claybury flock.
Mr Draper commented on the impressive sight that greeted him at Llwynyrynn when he first saw the flock ewes approaching on the field. He also praised the Arkle Captain Flash gimmers and particularly the Lanark pen of ram lambs by Mattadale Dance Monkey.
Taking the reserve championship are the Club’s newest members James Amphlett and Ellie Owens with their Topwood flock. They also took the small flock section and the best stock tup with Rhaeadr Cracker, a Garngour Alabama son shared with Ellie’s parents, who drew high praise from the judge.
First in the intermediate flock and mentioned in dispatches for their Knap Angus Ogg and Midcombe Brigadier gimmers were John and Gloria Davies, Aman.
The best shearling rams went to Tony Williams, Stelfox, and he was again mentioned with two worthy runners up in the stock tup section.
Finally a word for the Club’s ever willing sponsor, Bryan Jones of the Cottage Inn. Bryan has supported the Club right from the start and as he moves on to open a new chapter at Cegin Fach y Gwili in Llandeilo, Club members will hope to repay that support.
