Saturday’s Northern Stars in-lamb sale, Ballymena, saw Roger Strawbridge and family lead the trade, selling their topper at 11,000gns to Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn.
Sale leader was SRY2202636, a Sportsmans Dare Devil daughter out of a dam by Procters Cocktail and in-lamb to the 100,000gns Strathbogie Gypsy King.
Alan Blackwood recouped some of his outlay when taking 6800gns for one late in the sale, BYZ2231838. By the homebred 100,000gns Auldhouseburn Expression, she’s out of a Sportsmans-bred ewe by Garngour Alabama and sold carrying to Hope Valley Golden Balls. Buying this one was Rob Evans, Hope Valley.
Auldhouseburn gimmers then took the next four top prices, with the first going at 6500gns, with this being BYZ2231721. She’s another by Expression and is out of a Haddo-bred ewe by Allanfauld Am The Man. In-lamb with twins to the 90,000gns Hilltop Goliath she was taken by the McCollam family, Carmavy.
And next in line was BYZ2231775, a full sister to the 6800gns gimmer and in lamb to Lylehill GTR. She found a new home with Ashley Dickson, Lonicera, at 6200gns.
After that at 5800gns was BYZ2231713. This Expression daughter is out of a Rhaeader Best of the Best daughter and sold carrying to the 16,000gns Scholars Governor. Buying this one was Alan Glendinning, Lylehill.
Rob Evans then bought another at 4500gns, with this being BYZ2231899, a Seaforde Empire King daughter out of a dam by Sportmans A Star and in-lamb to Hope Valley Golden Balls.
Alastair Gault then took 3000gns for his best from Forkins, GAF2203449. Sired by Castlecairn Doodlebug she is out of a Clarks Bolt daughter and sold carrying twins to the 100,000gns Strathbogie Gypsy King. She was the pick of Leonard Linton, Bregagh.
At the same money was another of the Auldhouseburn gimmers, BYZ2231828. She’s another Expression daughter out of a dam by Knap Vicious Sid and in-lamb to Haymount Fan Dabi Dozi. This one was knocked down to Michael Quinn.
Another from the same home then made 2500gns. This was BYZ2231874, an Expression daughter out of the Haddo dam by Am The Man. She sold in-lamb to Haymount Fan Dabi Dozi and was taken by Ernest Hogg, Bunnahesco.
And at 2500gns was the best of the day from Mark Priestley, Seaforde. This New View Electrifying daughter is out of a Knap-bred dam by Knock Banker and sold in-lamb to Auldhouseburn Gazza and with a pair of embryos to accompany her. She headed to the Sportsmans flock of Messrs Boden and Davies.
