Society stand proves big draw at Sheep South West

The recent wet weather did little to dampen the spirits at this week’s NSA Sheep South West, Devon, where the Society’s stand was a hive of activity throughout the day.

A major draw to the stand was the guess the weight competition which challenged event visitors to guess the weight of two Lleyn ewe hoggs with single lambs at foot, to be in with a chance of winning a Ritchie weigh crate.

The total weight of the sheep was 167kg, with three correct entries from more than 300 submitted on the day. These three entries now go in to the draw along with the winning entries from the other NSA events this summer, with the first name out of the hat winning the Ritchie weigh crate worth more than £1000.

Alongside the Society’s competition the South West Texel Breeders Club ran their own guess the weight competition, with the winner, Tracey Cobbleditch, winning a £100 voucher to be spent at the NSA Ram Sale, Exeter, in August.

The Society is grateful for the support and assistance of the South West Texel Breeders Club for running the stand and to Michelle Moore and Messrs F and H Chave for loaning sheep for the stand.
