Topping Texel trade at 1500gns at the NSA South West Ram Sale, Exeter, was a shearling ram from Michael Lear’s Sidborough flock. This was Sidborough Fivestar, a Knap Earl son out of a dam by Cambwell Cobalt. He was the pick of N Rottenbury, Heasley Mill, South Molton.

A shearling from Louise Atkins then made 1200gns, with this being Milnbank Falcon. Purchased from Robbie Wilson as a ram lamb, this one is by Samsar Extreme and is out of a dam by Auldhouseburn Billy The Kid. Buying this one was Celtic House Farm, St Dennis, Cornwall.
And two then traded at 1100gns. First of these was shearling ram Loosebeare Friendly from the Quick family. Sired by Empire Churchill, he is out of a dam by Kimbolton Arrow and was knocked down to R S Frank, Chasewater, Truro.
The second 1100gns shearling was Hornacott Fierry from Phil Martyn-Uglow and family. He’s by the homebred Hornacott Emperor and out of a dam by Whitehart Unleashed and sold to R and M F Rottenbury, Chipstable, Taunton.
The Quicks then took 880gns for Loosebeare Fungus, an Empire Churchill son out of a dam by Vorn Breakout. He headed home with M J Turpin, Roborough, Plymouth.
Close behind at 850gns was Housey Five Star from Emma and Amy Coumbe. This Seaforde Essien son is out of a dam by Tima Amouruso was taken by F A and C J Elsworthy, Witheridge, Tiverton.
Also making this money was Hornacott Fearless from Phil Martyn-Uglow. He’s a Loosebeare Denton son out of a dam by Beautry Achilles and was the pick of D S and E Broad, Trevillet, Tintagel.
Averages; 89 shearling rams £626, four aged rams £511, three ram lambs £472, eight shearling ewes £525, two ewe lambs £268 (Kivells).
