Shropshire and Borders Sale hits 1500gns twice

Shearling rams hit a high of 1500gns at the Shropshire and Borders Club Sale, Shrewsbury, with this price paid twice.

First to take this money was Boycott Fernando from R E and C J Davies, with this one being by Millend Explosion and out of a dam by Clun Big Boy. He sold to Messrs Gibbs.

The other at this level was Bentley Ford Finnegan, a Sportsmans Diesel son from the Higgins family. He’s out of a dam by Wollascott Boycie and was knocked down to Stephen and Carole Williams, Wollascott.

Next in line at 1400gns was Doonguile Fredo from Will and Jackie Forrester. He’s by the homebred Doonguile Dram and out of a dam by Llegodig Shotgun and was taken by G Andrew.

Close behind at 1350gns was Cressage Frost from Matthew Ellis, with this one being a Walston Carlos son out of a dam by Fordafourie Amalert. Buying him were Messrs Lewis.

Two then followed at 1300gns, with the first being Clun Freelander from the Williams family. He’s by Clun Diamond and out of a Tatham Hall Ur The One daughter and sold to Will and Jackie Forester.

Also taking this money was Millend First Edition from Russell and Gill Watkins. Sired by the homebred Millend Extra Special, he’s out of a dam by Drumgooland Van Dal and was another bought by the Foresters.

Another pair then made 1250gns, the first of which was Clun Flashback from the Williams family. This one is by Clanfield Emblem and out of a dam by Glenside Uri and went home with A G Kirton and Sons.

The very next lot was the other at this price, Clun Felix. He’s by Clun Diamond and out of a dam by Craig Douglas Ya Belter. He was bought by Hazelwood Hall Farm Partners.

Best of the ram lambs at 1000gns was Tom Morgan’s Morwood Gun Runner. He’s by Sportsmans Belter and out of a Garngour Alabama daughter and was knocked down to Matthew Daniels.

And in the females the best of the gimmers at 1100gns was DHL2202088 from the Draper family’s Claybury flock. She’s by Strathbogie Cannonball and out of a dam by Stainton Vantage II and sold with a top 10% index when bought by I Jones.

Averages; 199 shearling rams £800.80, nien ram lambs £457.33, 34 gimmers £360.34 (Halls).
