Rising Stars reach £5050

Last week’s Rising Stars sale, staged online by Harrison and Hetherington, Carlisle, saw Texels sell to a high of £5050 for a gimmer from Robbie Wilson’s Milnbank flock.

This topper was LYM1903562, an Auldhouseburn Billy the Kid daughter out of a dam by Strathbogie Untouchable. She is an ET sister to the 7000gns Milnbank Cobra and sold to the Vauughan family for the Kingspark flock, Leominster.

Then at £3250 was a Plasucha gimmer from Robert Bennett, BFE1909288. Sired by Donrho Aristocrac, she is out of a dam by Plasucha All Star and goes back to a granddam that was first at the Great Yorkshire in 2019 and at the Royal Welsh in 2019. Buying this one was Jonathan Cubitt, Ballymena.

Following her at £2950 was another of the Milnbank offering LYM1903646. She’s by Garngour Alabama and out of a Strathbogie Untouchable daughter, with this one heading to Harrogate to join Mark Crabtree.

And close behind at £2750 was LYM1903469, another from Robbie Wilson. Sired by Cowal Bucking Bronco and out of a Strathbogie Yes Sir daughter she was the pick of Eamonn Vaughan, Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire.

Next best at £2250 was another from Robert Bennett, BFE1909092. This Plasucha All Star daughter is out of a dam by Kelso Wiseman and sold with an index in the top 10% of the breed when bought by B C Weir, Galashiels.

Robbie Wilson then took £2200 for LYM1903636 another by Cowal Bucking Bronco and out of a dam by Milnbank Van Wilder. She found a new home with Paul Heppell, Bishop Auckland.

Wrapping up the bids above £2000 was a £2100 call for a ewe lamb from Gary Beacom’s Lakeview flock, with this being LKV2004370. She’s by the £15,000 Harestone Commander and out of an Alderview dam by Arkle Awesome. This one was knocked down to Mark McMenamin, Donegal, Eire.
