While the Society understands that many members will be disappointed to learn that the Kelso Ram Sales have been cancelled, the decision taken by the Border Union Ram Sale committee has undoubtedly been a difficult one.
The Society continues to liaise with all sales organisers as they develop sales plans, whilst ensuring a focus on safety is paramount for all involved and adhering to the Government’s COVID-19 restrictions.
To help members in these times of uncertainty and despite this sale not being a Society event, the Society has been in contact with a number of auctioneers which sell Texels at Kelso and understands that alternative sales are being organised to fill the void left by the usual Kelso multibreed sale.
The Society understands that the intention is for these sales to be held at market premises and to avoid clashes between sale dates to facilitate both buyers and sellers to best effect.
There are also a large number of regional Club and other sales held under Society auspices which are available to members this autumn and the Society has also prepared some guidance to help members sell stock during these challenging times.
Members who usually sell at Kelso should contact their usual auctioneer in the first instance to ascertain what plans are in place and ensure they don’t miss out on these sales.
