Interbreed success for Texels

Texel breeders have been enjoying interbreed success at many of the early season shows, including taking the individual interbreed championships at both Royal Bath and West and Northumberland shows.

Leading the way at Royal Bath and West was the winner of the shearling ewe class, TIP1701440, from Paul Tippetts and Christine Williams, Shifnal, Shropshire.

This daughter of Eglur Yukon is out of an Oldford ewe which is itself by Strathbogie U2. She was the winner of the gimmer class before going on to be female champion and subsequently overall champion under Mr North.

Meanwhile, at Northumberland Show the champion was Ian Murray’s gimmer from his Glenway flock. This one is a Garngour Yeltsin daughter and went on to be champion of champions when pitted against the pedigree and commercial beef cattle champions, dairy cattle champion and horse champions.

In the midlands it was Paul Johnson’s Corriecravie flock which took top honours in the interbreed group of three competition at Staffordshire County Show.  Making up this group were aged ram Cornmore Young Hustler and shearling ewes LYM1702520 and JTC1701048, the former being a Strathbogie Yes Sir daughter, with the latter being by Corriecravie Union Pacific.
