Texel trade peaked at 1500gns at Saturday’s Winter Warmers Sale in-lamb, Melton Mowbray, with this price paid for an in-lamb gimmer from Nick Legge’s Thornbury flock.
Bred in shepherd Peter Stubbs’ flock, sale leader was PSY2402135, an Ettrick Grey Goose daughter out of a Plasucha-bred dam by Sportsmans Express and sold carrying a single. She was the pick of Messrs Woodbridge and Wallis, Wadenhoe, Peterborough.
Then, next in line at 1450gns was another from the same home, LEN2402167. She’s another by Ettrick Grey Goose and is out of a dam by Midlock Dynamo. Sold carrying a single to Mellor Vale Huntsman, she was knocked down to Frankie Kunica, Wessington, Derbyshire.
And making 1300gns was a full ET sister to the sale topper, PSY2402110. She sold carrying a single and another heading back to Belper, with Messrs Kunica.
Topping the ewe lamb offering was one from Stephen Cobbold’s Lavenham flock, CSV2504241. Sired by Rhaeadr First Choice and out of a Claybury-bred dam by Strathbogie Cannonball, she found a new home with Paul Castle, Peterborough.
Four from the same home then sold at 850gns, with the first being CSV2504236, an Auldhouseburn Expression daughter out of a dam by Stump Cross Flame. She also headed away with Paul Castle.
Second at this level was a full ET sister to the last, with this one being CSV2504244. She headed north to Yorkshire with Steve Richardson, Barnsley.
Then also making 850gns was CSV2504239. Another by Auldhouseburn Expression, she’s out of a Rhaeadr dam by Sportsmans Enforcer and was again taken by Paul Castle.
And the final call at this level came for a Hilltop Hudson daughter, CSV2504255. She’s out of a dam by Mellor Vale Dakota and was taken by E E Rudd and Son, Dalling, Norfolk.
