The Society’s AGM and social weekend at Drimsynie Estate, Argyll, was well attended, with 60 members and friends making the trip to the west of Scotland for the event which took place from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th November.
Friday saw a number of members taking part in a number of activities, including gorge walking and paddle boarding on Loch Goil or exploring the local area, with weekend guests joining on Friday afternoon and everyone socialising over dinner.
That evening saw guests take part in a pub quiz, testing their general knowledge as well as music, sport, film and Texel topics.
Taking top spot here were Gil’s Gems, followed by Team Angus, with Eagle One and Auld Keith coming in joint 3rd.
The following morning saw guests split into eight teams to take part in the main competitions of the weekend, which included welly wanging, archery, darts as well as being the first people to test out the venue’s brand new golf simulator.
Leading the way here with 1128 points were Bridget Booker, Jon Booker, Robert Laird, Joyce Laird and Angus Howie.
In second place were Pete Longdin, Liz Longdin, Sarah Taylor, Graham Taylor, Steve Nesbitt, Mary Nesbitt and Gil Burton.
And third spot went to Richard Wilson, Lisa Timmis, Jeffrey Teward, Roz Teward, John Hudson and Rachel Story.
Following lunch the attendees took part in a stock judging competition hosted by the Cowal flock.
Four classes were judged, with three of these being Texel classes and one a Scottish Blackface class, with Jim Currie of Carlinside acting as master judge.
Winning here was Andrew Clark, Teiglum, with second going to Jennifer Aiken, Coniston and third to Alastair Gault, Forkins.
Later that afternoon saw the Society AGM take place, with Roy Campbell retiring as chairman and handing over to new chairman Jeff Aiken.
The day was wrapped up with a drinks reception and dinner dance, with presentations made to the winners of the day’s competitions along with a brace of members, Harry Woodmass and Gordon Gray, receiving President’s Awards from Roy Campbell.
