New 19,000gns NI female record at Northern Stars sale

Saturday’s Northern Stars sale of on-lamb gimmers at Ballymena saw a new Northern Irish female record of 19,000gns for a gimmer from Richard Henderson’s Ballynahone flock.

Sale leader, HBR1600762, is an ET bred Duncryne Uber Cool daughter out foa dam by Braehead Touch of Class and going back to the noted Douganhill McFly. She sold carrying twins to Halbeath Woody and was knocked down to Jim Innes for the Strathbogie flock after a spirited bidding battle.

Second best at 5000gns was the very next in the ring from the same home, HBR1600780. This one is by Uber Cool and out of a Springhill Silverstone-sired dam. She was again in-lamb to Halbeath Woody and sold scanned for twins to Procters Farm, Lancashire.

Then making 3400gns was one from Paul and Baillie O’Connor, OCL1600567, an ET bed Usk Vale War-Lord daughter out of a dam by Garngour Upperclass and in-lamb to Milnbank American Sniper. This one was bought by R Hghes, Penmynydd.

At the same money was the best of the sale from Alastair Gault’s Forkins entry, with this being a gimmer bred in the Cherryvale flock of Alastair’s children Beth and Jack. This was GCN1601761, another by Usk Vale War-Lord and out of a dam by Baltier Thunderbird. She sold in-lamb to Scotsman Ace and was bought by H J Wilson, Raphoe, Co Donegal.

Following her at 3200gns was another from Richard Henderson, HBR1600809, an Uber Cool daughter out of a Springhill Silverstone daughter. She was in-lamb to Woody and was bought by M Grant, Buncrana, Co Donegal.

Just shy of that at 3000gns was the best from Roger Strawbridge, SRY1601671. This Tamnamoney gimer is by Knap Wot A Nut and out of a dam by Knock Travis. She sold carrying to Millar’s Windbrook and was knocked down to Stewart Ferris, Dromore, Co Down.

Richard Henderson was back in the money when selling his next at 2800gns. This was HBR160078, an ET daughter of Uber Cool out of a dam by Knock Travis. She goes back to Sweet Wall Gigolo and was sold in-lamb to Halbeath Woody. Taking her home was John Foster, for the Springhill flock.

And a 2400gns bid secured the Forkins gimmer GAF1601685 from Alastair Gault. This Usk Vale War-Lord daughter is out of an Uber Cool dam and goes back to an Ettrick ewe by Knock Papoose. She sold in-lamb to Millar’s Windbrook and was bought by S McNeilly, Ballynure, Ballyclare.

After that at 2200gns was another from Tamnamoney, SRY1601669. This Knap Wot A Nut daughter is out of an Annan Limmy daughter and sold in-lamb to Scotsman Ace and was bought by James Kane, Castlewellan.

Another from the same home, SRY1601664, then sold at 2000gns, with this Wot A Nut daughter being out of a Knock Travis dam an in-lamb to Millar’s Windbrook. She was the pick of G Surtees, Stodday, Lancaster.
