June’s Armagh Show was this year’s venue for the inaugural Northern Ireland Texel Sheep Breeder’s Club National Show, with Keith Campbell, Cowal and Overburns, taking on the task of judging.
Members supported the competition with 180 entries across the various classes with judging no easy feat. At the end of the day though, with was the females which won through, with Mr Campbell choosing his Natural Stockcare champion from Mark Priestley’s Seaforde flock in the form of his ewe lamb, PQR 2302488. She is a Procters El Presidente daughter, out of a Knock Banker-sired ewe.
Mr Campbell awarded Adrian Liggett the Natural Stockcare reserve champion rosette for his shearling ewe, APK 2200701. She was purchased as a ewe lamb from the Kerryhill dispersal sale and is a Hexel Diamond Joe daughter out of a Ballynahone Cantona dam.
