Ram lamb trade hit a high of 2700gns at the Main NSA Ram Sale, Builth Wells, when Rhys Jones sold his lamb, Llyn Y Bugail Jack Daniels.
A bumper trade saw a 90% clearance and an average of £862.77 for 166 sold.
Sired by the 11,000gns Plasucha All Star and out of a Thornbury-bred dam by Ettrick Grey Goose, the sale leader had stood third in the open ram lamb class in the pre-sale show and sold to J and H Thomas, Bryngarth, LLanerchymedd.
The same buyers then paid 2400gns for Len Banc Jackhammer from Damiel Thomas. This one is a son of Brackenridge Fly Half out of a dam by Garngour Empire II.
Selling at 2300gns was Hywel Thomas’ lamb, Cennen Just The Job. He’s a Haddo Falcon son out of a dam by Knock Yardsman and was knockded down to Ifan Davies, Tryal Mawr.
Then making 2200gns was Alan Powell’s Monnow Hill Jackaroo. This one had won the open ram lamb class in the pre-sale show and is by Allanfauld Hoffmeister and out of a dam by Hexel Geronimo II. He went away with Jamie Woosnam, Trefeg.
At the same money was Teilo Jonah Lomu from John Erian and Lynwen Davies. A second prize winner, he’s by the 60,000gns Auldhouseburn In Business Now and out of a dam by Castlecairn General G and found a new home with E H, M B and S E Jones for the Senny flock.
Two then sold at 2000gns, the first of which was Broomfield Jewel from James Draper. He won the Gold Tier recorded class in the pre-sale show and is by Allanfauld Italian Job and out of a dam by Claybury Delta Force. He sold with a top 5% index to K J and R L Matthews, St Giles On The Heath.
The other at this level was Windmill Johnny Cash from Ellie and Iwan Pearce-Morgan. This son of Auldhouseburn Istabraq is out of a Garngour-bred dam by Midcombe Fireball and went away with R C and N A Ellis for the Eglur flock.
