Great Yorkshire Show interbreed success

Double interbreed success at Great Yorkshire for Texels

Following on from a great day’s judging on the first day of the Great Yorkshire Show the Texel breed triumphed in both the individual and pairs interbreed championships under judge William Ingram. Winning the individual interbreed championship was the breed champion from yesterday, Sportsmans Upperclass from Messrs Boden and Davies. This son of the 42,000gns Tullylagan Tonka is out of a 6000gns Knock dam by Cambwell Rob Roy and out of the noted HAK05034 ewe.

In the inaugural interbreed pairs championship Upperclass was joined by yesterday’s female champion, Gordon Gray’s gimmer, GGH1303026 from the Ettrick flock. This is a daughter of Plasucha Tiger, the champion from the main NSA sale at Builth in 2012, and is out of Tima Princess, a Thinacres Grenade daughter.

Mr Ingram praised Upperclass for his overall correctness and excellent fleshing qualities. “He’s a great tup full of flesh and breed character and with a great set of legs under him. He was an easy winner from the moment I set eyes on him.”
