Ram lamb Duyncryne Hawkayethenoo led the price list at the Solway and Tyne Texel Club’s second sale when making 3000gns for Kerr Jarvie.
Sired by Hexel Geronimo II and out of a dam by Milnbank Brooklyn, this one was knocked down to Messrs Thompson, Melmerby, Penrith, having stood third in the pre-sale show.
Second best at 2600gns was Kenny Pratt’s ram lamb, Hilltop Headbanger. This Auldhouseburn Gazza son is out of a dam by Sportsmans Chieftain and sold to K and S Ingram, Keith, for the Ault More flock.
Then making 2500gns was Overburns High Tide from Keith and Andrew Campbell, with this one being by the 42,000gns Ettrick Grey Goose and out of a Castlecairn-bred dam and sold with a top 10% texelplus index. He was the pick of Paul Phillips for the Kimbolton flock.
A 2200gns bid followed that for Craigsarroch Giant, a shearling ram from Ruaridh and Isla Graham. He’s by Mellor Vale Déjà vu and out of a dam by Cornmore Diamond and was bought by the Priestley family, Brampton, for the Brontemoor flock.
Three then sold at 2000gns, the first of which was Garngour Happy Ending from Alan Clark and family. This Midlock Flockstar son is out of a dam by Stainton Foundation and found a new home with Northumberland College, Newcastle, with a top 1% texelplus index.
Second at this price was another from Kerr Jarvie, Duncryne Hitman. Another by Hexel Geronimo II and this time out of a Knock Bantastic daughter, he was taken by Messrs Wilson, Hexham.
And the final 2000gns sale was for Vallum Horsepower from Messrs Hewson. Sired by Wester Moy Diego and out of a dam by Titan Cassius Clay, he was bought in a three-way split by Archie and John MacGregor, Allanfauld, David Gray, Tima and Andrew Clark, Teiglum.
Then making 1500gns was Garngour HGV from the Clarks, with this being a Sportsmans Grand Slam son out of a dam by Allanfauld Flaming Star. He sold with a top 25% texelplus index and headed home with Messrs Langcake, Keswick.
In the females the best of the trade was a 1000gns bid for one from Robert Cockburn’s Knap flock. This was CKP2307408 a Stump Cross Foreman daughter out of a dam by Sportsmans Cannon Ball. She went to join Messrs Sykes’ Quarryside flock, Holmfirth.
