Members in England will be able to access additional DEFRA funding towards in-depth testing and targeted disease prevention measures in their flocks.
A new bolt-on has been announced to support those farms already undertaking an annual vet review as part of the sustainable farming incentive.
As a result, English flockmasters will be able to claim an extra £639 on top of the existing offering of £436 for the annual vet review.
DEFRA states that “In the case of sheep, the farmer will, in consultation with their vet, choose from a range of health improvement packages. These will target the syndrome that is most prevalent and provides most benefit to treat in each flock. This extra funding will be available in summer.”
Funding will also be available for beef, dairy and pig herds.
Eligible farmers will also receive funding for the delivery of a biosecurity assessment followed by bespoke advice to help farmers identify how diseases are most likely to spread into their herd or flock, and across their farm.
