With the summer show season kicking into gear and members and friends making time to gather and meet up at shows and Club events, Mental Health Awareness Week is encouraging everyone to take action for those who may struggling.
After a long, wet winter and lambing season, it is understandable that some people may be finding things difficult and while awareness is vital, taking action is even more important.
Take time to check in on friends, neighbours and fellow breeders, drop in on them, involve them in local Club activities and encourage them to take action themselves if they feel they need help.
There are a multitude of ways to take action and it can be for yourself or for someone else.
For yourself, find one thing to boost your mental health. It might be a trip to a local show or market to catch up with friends, a coffee with a neighbour or simply enjoying a favourite meal.
For others, take time to check in on friends, colleagues and neighbours. Find ways to help them if they are finding things difficult and most importantly, let them know they’re not alone.
Farming is fortunate to be supported by some excellent organisations that are there to help in difficult times, a few are listed below. If you or anyone you know needs to reach out to them, they’re there to help.
