Summarised Report and Sale Analysis
The multibreed show/sale involving Texels, Suffolks, Beltex and Charollais (144 head sold ), the Texel dominated the transactions in the higher price range.Highest price Texel was an outstanding full sister to Strathbogie Python (IJS09289) – 2010 “Sire of the Year”, which sold to Robbie Wilson ( Milnbank flock). Mr Wilson had earlier sold his pre-sale show champion – a stylish Razzle Dazzle daughter for 3,000 gns to young breeder Scott Michie ( Scotmans flock). Glenside Razzle Dazzle (FPG1000055) daughters were very prominent amongst the higher priced animals as evident in the summaries.
The “Classic “has continued to grow in popularity in recent years, highlighting the increasing demand for Texels in the Northern, very exposed, counties of Scotland, including Caithness, Orkney and Shetland Islands. 20% of the sheep sold this year were destined for the Northern Isles. However, buyers from as far South as Lancashire and Wales also made their presence felt. (Some via modern technology – I bids or telephone bids)
