Texels take tickets at English Winter Fair

Texels fared well at this year’s English Winter Fair, Stafford, taking the reserve overall championship in the live lamb section and also the reserve carcass championship.

Lifting the reserve overall championship was Kate Gunn with her pair of pure Texels which had come through from the pure Texel class to be the champion purebred lambs of the show and then reserve supreme. This pair were a tup bred by Matt Prince and out of ewes bred by David Wadland and weighed in at 47kg apiece.

In the carcass section it was long-time supporter and regular winner Robin Slade who picked up the reserve supreme championship with his Dutch Texel sired carcass from his Weekfield flock, Almeley, Herefordshire.
