The South Wales Texel Breeders’ Association Sale took place on Sunday, 10th September in Llandovery Market. It was an excellent Sale throughout with a tremendous clearance rate.
Topping the Sale were Hywel Thomas and family with two of their shearling rams which made 1000gns apiece. The first was Cennen Yardsman, a son of Wester Moy Utopia out of a dam by Cambwell Rankin. The second was the champion male of the day, Cennen Yellowstone, a son of Millar’s Walk-About out of a Tamnamoney Tuborg Gold sired dam. Both rams were purchased by R Davies, Myddfai.
Following these, another Wester Moy Utopia son, Cennen Yorkie sold for 840gns to D C Davies, Llangadog. Jim and Trudy Davies then sold Procters Young One, a son of Glenside Whiskey Galore for 780gns again to D C Davies, Llangadog and then R Llewelyn, Llandeilo, purchased Caebetran Young Gun for 680gns from Gwyn, Hazel and Chris Davies. For the same money, A & J Hughes sold Marlsbrough Yachtsman to A Davies, Llanddeusant.
The supreme champion, a shearling ewe from Mike and Ella James and family topped the female prices at 800gns. This shearling ewe was by Meinspride Usain, a former Royal Welsh Show male champion and out of a Wayside U Bet sired dam being purchased by J R Saxton, Cowbridge.

Also selling at 800gns was a Whitehart Ultra daughter consigned by W O J Reed and Co, Scolton, which joined the Ty-Medi flock of T C Adams, Cowbridge. Mike James sold another Duhonw ewe by the Usain sire for 640gns to J C A Jones, Builth Wells. Demi Morgan sold an Arkle Waldorf daughter for 600gns to W O Thomas, Llanfynydd.
The ram lambs peaked at 450gns for Townswood Atticus, a son of Stainton Vigilante from Wayne Phillips, Trawsmawr, and sold to G Mills, Llanidloes. Jim and Trudy Davies sold Trujim Alpacino for 420gns to I Price-Davies, Llandovery, and for the same money, Russell and Gill Watkins and family sold Millend Atlantic to K Jones, Talgarreg. Three ram lambs reached 400gns, first paid by E M A Parry and Sons, Brecon, for Trujim Apache from Jim and Trudy Davies and then T D Jones, Blaenffos purchased Brynmeini Ace from Andrew Thomas, Glandwr. The third was for Caebetran Apache from Gwyn, Hazel and Chris Davies and was bought by J D P Thomas, White Mill.
Ewe lambs peaked at 400gns for a Charben Warhorse daughter from Selwyn and Tomos Evans selling to M J Thomas, Llanfynydd.
