Solway and Tyne Club sale hits 6800gns

The Solway and Tyne Texel Club’s in-lamb female sale at Carlisle on Friday (9 December) saw a top call of 6800gns for the pre-sale show champion, a Knap Vicious Sid daughter from Messrs Boden and Davies Sportsmans flock.

Sale leader was BGS1501715, a gimmer out of a dam by the 42,000gns Tullylagan Tonka and going back to Craighead Hercules. She sold to Vaughan Farms, Kingsland, Leominster.

Then making 2000gns was another similarly bred gimmer by Vicious Sid and out of a Tonka dam. She sold with an index of 275 and was the pick of Kay Castle,Washingley, Peterborough.

Selling at 1500gns was an ewe from Richard Wilson’s Eden Valley flock. This was the first prize ewe and reserve overall champion, WEV1400263. She’s a Sportsmans Tremendous daughter out of a dam by Deveronvale Perfection and sold carrying to Hexel Wildcard. Buying her were H C and L A MacGillivary, Oban,. Argyll.

Following that came an 1100gns call for a ewe lamb from Hamish Currie’s Burnholm consignment, CKB1600141. Sired by Bradleys V8 Vanquish she is out of a dam by Strathbogie Priceless and was taken by J J Horn, Richmond.

And at 1000gns was another to Richard Wilson’s ewes, WEV1400326, a Stainton Usain Bolt daughter out of a dam by Sportsmans Pele. She sold in-lamb to Anglezarke Uno and was knocked down to Messrs MacGillivary.

Averages; eight ewes £714, 35 gimmers £699, seven ewe lambs £376.50 (Harrison and Hetherington).
