North West Club sale hits 3500gns

Females enjoyed the pick of the trade at the North West Texel Breeders Club sale at J36 on Sunday (13 August), with the top call of 3500gns paid for a gimmer from Peter Woof’s Stainton flock.

This one, WPS1600927, is an Eden Valley Warrior King daughter out of a dam by Sportsmans Tremendous II. She sold wth an index of 330 and was bought by Charlie Boden for the Sportsmans flock. She had previously stood second at Great Yorkshire.

Then selling at 2900gns was another from the Stainton pen, this time the pre-sale champion, WPS1600896, an ET bred full sister to the sale topper. She was bought by Nick Woodmass for the Harene flock, Longtown.

Following that at 2400gns was the first prize ewe lamb from Robert Pierce’s Oldford flock, PRE1700757. She’s by Knock Yankee and out of a dam by Anglezarke Uno. She sold with an index of 384 and is out of a ewe which has seen maternal sisters sell to 3000gns.

Topping the male trade at 850gns was a ram lamb from Prcoters Farm, Procters Alex. This son of last year’s Lanark topper Teiglum Younggun is out of a dam by Tophill Union Jack and was followed by others from the same home at 800gns and 780gns.
