Cherryvale and Forkins shine at Northern Stars Sale

Last week’s Northern Stars in-lamb sale of Texels at Ballymena saw another evening of strong demand and exceptional trading for the best of the lots on offer.

Leading the sale at 10,000gns was a gimmer from Alistair, Jack and Beth Gault, with this being a gimmer from the Cherryvale consignment, GCN1501462. She is a Duncryne Uber Cool daughter out of a dam by Knock Papoose and sold in lamb to Usk Vale Warlord and. Buying her was Charlie Boden for the Sportsman flock, Macclesfield.

Then making 5000gns was a full ET sister to the sale topper, GCN1501461. This one was carrying to Halbeath Woody and sold to John Greene, Larhill, Co Donegal.

Third top of the evening was another from the Gault family, this time from the Forkins flock in the form of GAF1501396. This triplet born Uber Cool daughter is out of a dam by Duncryne Ringmaster and sold in-lamb to Usk Vale Warlord. She was knocked down at 4200gns to John Greene again.

Just shy of the 4000gns mark was Roger Strawbridge’s best when he sold SRY1501212 at 3800gns. This gimmer is by Tamnamoney Tuborg Gold and out of a Knock Travis dam and was sold in-lamb to the homebred Tamnamoney Yolo. She found a new home with H J Wilson, Raphoe.

Then came a 3500gns call for the best of Paul and Baillie O’Connor’s consignment. This was OCP1500465, another by Uber Cool and this time out of a Strathbogie dam bought privately. She was third at this year’s Balmoral Show and sold in-lamb to Halbeath Woody, being the pick of H J Wilson, Raphoe.

At the same money was William and Michael Smyth’s best of the sale, with the guest consignors selling SMV1501731 to Rodney McCloughlin’s Clonmany, Co Donegal. She is a Stainton Victor daughter out of a Straidarran Ranger mother. This one is in-lamb to Tamnmaoney Wild West.

Demand for the Foyleview females continued into their second pen with SMV1501768 selling for 3400gns.  Another Stainton Victor daughter out of a Mellor Vale Masterpiece dam and also in lamb to Tamnamoney Wild West, she joins Charlie Boden’s Sportsmans flock.

Next best at 3200gns was one from Richard Henderson’s Ballynahone pen. This was HBR1500710 an ET bred daughter of Uber Cool out of a ewe by Springhill Silverstone and carrying to Halbeath Woody. She sold to Michael Smyth for the Foyleview flock.

And the Smyth’s then earned some of their money back when selling a full ET sister to the consignment leader at 3100gns. This was SMV1501720, a gimmer ccanned with twins to Tamnamoney Wild West.  She was taken by L Brown Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

Following her at 2700gns was OCP1500461 from Paul and Baillie O’Connor.  This Tophill Union Jack daughter is out of the 11,000gns Forkins ewe and is in lamb with twins to the 12,000gns Douganhill Young Gun. She was bought by H J Wilson, Raphoe.

Selling at 2500gns was SRY1501237 from Roger Strawbridge, with this Duncryne Uber Cool daughter being out of a dam by Sportsmans Scania. She sold carrying to Knap WotaNut she found a new home with Edward Buckley, Kilberry, Co Donegal.
