Auldhouseburn lead Select Seven at 12,000gns

First time consigners Hugh and Alan Blackwood’s led the way at the Select Seven in-lamb sale, Lanark, when collecting a bid of 12,000gns for their first in the ring, BYZ1513205, an ET bred daughter of Knap Vicious Sid out of a Cowal bred dam by Kelso Pavaroti.

This one, which goes back to Muiresk Northern Dancer sold carrying twins to the 60,000gns Clinterty Yuga Khan and was knocked down to Myfyr Evans, for the Rhaeadr flock, Denbigh.

Second best of the sale at 7000gns was an Ettrick gimmer from Gordon Gray, Selkirk. This was GGH1505123. Again ET bred she is by the homebred Ettrick Vagabond and out of a dam by Ettrick Sir Alan and going back to Thinacres Grenade. She was again in-lamb to the 60,000gns Yuga Khan and was the choice of D Morrison, Dalwyne, Barr, Girvan.

Then making 5000gns was Robert Laird’s best of the day from the Cambwell consignment, LTC1502359. Sired by Hilltop Valhalla she is out of a dam by Llangwm Nut and goes back to the noted Cambwell Laird. She sold having been AI’d to Cambwell Trademark and was bought by Messrs Boden and Davies for the Sportsmans flock.

Following her at 4500gns was another Ettrick gimmer, GGH1505056. A daughter of Hilltop Valhalla and out of a Knock Papoose-sired dam she goes back to Mitchelhill Paparazzi and was also sold carrying to Yuga Khan. This one sold to the service sire’s breeder Brian Buchan for the Clinterty flock.

A quartet then traded at 3800gns, with the first of these being the very first gimmer of the sale, from the Clark family’s consignment from their Garngour, Teiglum and Clarks flocks. This was CFT1503917, a Castlecairn Vavavoom daughter out of a dam by Strathbogie Smokey Blue which is maternal sister to the 60,000gns Teiglum Tornado and from the same family as the 70,000gns Teiglum Young Gun. She sold in-lamb to Knock Yardsman and was bought by Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn.

Second at this money was a Knock gimmer from Albert and George Howie, HAK1500869. This ET bred daughter of Garngour Vintage is out of a dam by Tophill Nockout and sold in-lamb to the Sire of the Year, Tophill Wall St. Buying her were Robin and Caroline Orr, Halbeath.

Next at 3800gns was another from Robert Laird, LTC1502377. She’d by Hilltop Valhalla and out of a dam by Crailloch True Blue and goes back to Cambwell Laird. She is in-lamb to Fordafourie Young Star and was the choice of Keith, Alan and Roy Campbell for the Cowal flock.

And the final bid at this level came for a Craighead gimmer from Messrs Cullen. This was a Crailloch Victor daughter, CMC1501006. She is out of a dam by Coldstream Rolex and sold having been running with Procters Young Hustler.

Selling for 3500gns was another Hilltop Valhalla daughter, this time from the Ettrick pen of Gordon Gray in the form of GGH1505059. She’s out a Glenside Razzle Dazzle daughter and goes back to Ettrick Mighty Mouse and was sold after running with Clinterty You Cracker. She found a new home with previous buyer D Morrison.
