Texels continue to enjoy the pick of the trade in both prime, cull and breeding sales across the country, taking top prices at many centres.
Among the prime hogg trade the best Texel-sired hoggs at Caledonian Marts, Stirling, hit a high of 360p/kg and £150/head, while at Wooler the best of the Texel cross hoggs hit a high of £183, with others at £179 and £168.
Further south at Bentham, Texel hoggs peaked at £202/head and 418.6p/kg , with Texel cross spring lambs at the same centre selling to £189/head or 444.7p/kg.
Additionally, Texel cull ewes at Caledonian Marts sold to £221, with culls at Wooler hitting a high of £220.
Meanwhile, Texel breeding has also been well sought after in couple sales, with best Texel cross ewes with twins at foot peaking at £120/life or £360/outfit at Welshpool, with Texel cross ewes and singles making up to £245 at the same centre.
Across the border at Hereford, top end Texel cross ewes with single lambs made up to £290/outfit or £145/life, with those with twins at foot also hitting a high of £290/outfit or £96/life.
