May 2017 Progeny Show results
There was a good turnout at The South Wales Texel Breeders’ Association Progeny Show held in Llandovery Market on Sunday, 28th May. The competition was kindly judged by Andrew Thomas (Brynmeini). The champion was a smart and strong ram lamb owned by Trudy and Jim Davies (Trujim). This first prize lamb was sired by Proctors Young One, a Glenside Whisky Galore son which was purchased last year at the Welsh National Sale in Welshpool and his dam was a homebred Strathbogie Python ewe.

Reserve champion was awarded to the second prize single lamb from Liz Rees (White Grove). This was a ewe lamb out of a homebred ewe and sired by Mullan Yorkie, a ram that was sold in Lanark last year for 4000gns.

In Class two, first prize was awarded to Gwilym Williams (Treweren) for his pen of three lambs sired by the Mullan Vivaldi son, Strathbogie Whiplash. They were three siblings out of a Proctors ewe sired by Tophill Union Jack. Second prize went to Trudy and Jim Davies (Trujim) and third prize to Bridget and Jon Booker (Towy Texels). Class three saw Gwilym once again collecting first prize, this time with his pair of gimmers which had plenty of character, sired by Anglezarke Uno and out of a ewe from the Oldford flock. In second place were Trudy and Jim Davies (Trujim) with Gwilym also collecting third prize. In Class four the first prize went to G P and M Jones (Llanthomas) for their smart pen of five gimmers. They were all sired by Tima Top Gun, an Ettrick Sir Allan son purchased in Lanark in 2012. Coming second in this class were John and Josie Hardwick (Abercrychan).
In the single homebred shearling ram class, first prize was awarded to Bridget and Jon Booker (Towy Texels) for their shearling ram, Towy Texels Yolo. This strong ram with plenty of length was sired by Banc Olive Vin Diesel and out of an Einon ewe. In second place were Gwyn, Hazel and Chris Davies (Caebetran) and third place were Adrian and Amanda Windsor (Fern). Class six was for three homebred shearling rams and John and Josie Hardwick (Abercrychan) were awarded first prize for their strong pen being sired by Penparc Valveroy, a Strathbogie Terminator son purchased from Welshpool three years ago. In second place was G P and M Jones (Llanthomas) and third place Bridget and Jon Booker (Towy Texels)
