New 16,000gns shearling ewe centre record at Worcester

This evening’s shearling ewe sale at the English National Sale, Worcester, saw a new centre record price of 16,000gns paid for a gimmer from Stuart Currie’s Beautry flock, on an evening which saw 81 gimmers sell to level at £1002.69, a rise of £197.34 on last year’s fixture.

Leading the way was a gimmer which had been the talk of the market ahead of the sale and had been previously shown at Great Yorkshire Show. This was CUB1501219, a single born daughter of Loosebeare Voldemort out of a dam by the homebred Beautry Taz. She was subject to a fierce bidding battle after an opening bid of 2000gns, before finally being knocked down at 16,000gns to Paul Tippetts, Shifnal, Shropshire.

Second top of the eveing at 6200gns was the pre-sale female champion and reserve overall champion from Robert Cockburn’s Knap flock, CKP1500173. Offered late in the sale she is by Tamnamoney Tuborg Gold and out of a dam by Knock Papoose. Buying this one were Geoff and Eifion Morgan, BlaenCar, Sennybridge.

Then making 4800gns was Stuart Currie’s second of the evening, CUB1501158. This one is again by Loosebeare Voldemort and out of a dam by Beautry Panama. She joined her flock mate on the trailer to Shifnal with Paul Tippetts taking this one too.

Following her at 4200gns was the next from Robert Knap, CKP151500182. This Tuborg Gold daughter is out of a Springwell-bred dam by Tullylagan Keystone. She was bought by G J and J E Williams, Brecon, for the Padest flock.

A 2700gns call came next with this paid for one from the Forkins flock of Alastair Gault. This was GAF1501328, a daughter of Glenside Valhalla out of a dam by Duncryne Ringmaster. This one sold to Stephen Cobbold, Acton, Suffolk.

And a 1900gns bid was came after that for a gimmer from Messrs Bradley’s Far Hey flock, BRF1500253. She’s an ET bred daughter of Anglezarke Uno out of a dam by Sportsmans Tremendous II. She was bought by A E Jones, Ynystoddee, Gwynfe.

The Jones family then bought the next best selling gimmer, with this one coming from Gordon Gray’s Ettrick flock. This was GGH1505022, a Castlecairn Vital Spark daughter out of a dam by Glenside King A Ding. She was knocked down at 1250gns.

Just shy of that at 1220gns was David Hoguhton’s best from the Tophill flock, HPH1500799. Sired by Glenside Vavroom, she is out of a Milnbank Spunky daughter and sold to Emily Collings, Treburley, Cornwall.

And collecting an 1150gns bid was David Gray. This gimmer from the Tima flock, GCT1505307, is by a full ET sister to the 1250gns Ettrick gimmer and stood second and reserve female champion in the pre-sale show. She was taken by Messrs Draper for the Claybury flock, Shrewsbury.

The final bid at 1000gns or more came when David Prince sold YDP1500994 from the Stonedge flock. This Clinterty USA daughter is out of a dam by Goldies Supreme and was bought by Mark James, Milford Haven.
