Isle of Man-based Kirree Kermode is the newest member of the Society’s Youth Development Programme committee having won the recent election for the north of England, south west Scotland and Isle of Man (Area B).
Kirree, who farms at home with her family, running the Orrissdale flock alongside commercial sheep and pedigree and commercial cattle enterprises, says she hopes to bring some of her recent experiences to the committee for the benefit of young breeders across the UK.
“The next generation are an important part of the future of the UK sheep industry. Young people need to be multiskilled, open-minded and technologically competent individuals.
“I have been fortunate to spend a year as an NSA Young Ambassador and I am enthusiastic to pass on the valuable knowledge, links and contacts that I have gained with the industry to our young people,” explained Kirree.
Society YDP coordinator Ailish Ross congratulated Kirree on her success and thanked Rosie Boden for standing for election.
