Loosebeare leads Worcester collective females at 3300gns

The Quick family’s Loosebeare flock, Crediton, Devon, took a top call of 3300gns at Saturday’s (12th August) collective sale of Texel females at Worcester.

The sale which featured drafts from the Loosebreare flock and the Whitehart flock of Jim and Nicola Hartright as well as the dispersal of the Hollyford flock of Alan and Barbara Draper saw a solid trade throughout, with choice lots well bid for.

Leading the day was QEL1606464, a gimmer by the homebred Loosebeare Voomer and out of a Whitehart Taylor Made dam. She sold to Paul Tippetts, Shifnal, Shropshire.

Then at 2600gns was another from the same home, QEL1606477. This one is a daughter of the Lanark champion Ballynahone Winner out of a Milnbank Special One daughter from the same family as Voomer. She was knocked down to Nick Hulse, Slindon, Staffordshire.

Following her at 1800gns was the best of the day from the Whitehart consignment, HWN1602734. This Strawfrank Wild Thing daughrer is out of an Ellen Valley Nemesis sired dam and sold to her sire’s breeder Allan Campbell, Carstairs, Lanarkshire.

And a 1350gns call followed that for another Loosebeare gimmer, QEL1606399. This one is another by the prolific Voomer and is out of a daughter of the noted Summerwood Grand Union. She was the choice of W L Braund, Whitstone, Devon.

Close behind that at 1200gns was another from the Hartwright family, HWN1602670. She’s by Voomer again and is out of a Cherryvale Shergar dam. Taking this one home were the Dorrell family, Shrawley, Worcestershire.

Following along at 1050gns was the first of the day from the same home, HWN1603034. She’s by Langside the Gaffer and out of a Humeston River Dance, daughter, combining two of the most influential sires in the Whitehart flock in recent years. This one sold to Tom Clarke, Colebrook, Devon.

At the same money was HWN1602867 from the Hartwrights again. She’s by Whitehart Ultimate and out of a River Dance daughter and found a new home with the Quick family.

Bowing out after more than 30 years involvement with the breed, the Drapers saw their consignment of gimmers peak at 900gns for DHA1600364. This Cambwell Trademark daughter is out of a dam by Cambwell Terminator and sold with an index of 363 to R Greasley, Kiddelston, Derbyshire.

Averages; Hollyford 19 gimmers £658.73, Whitehart 20 gimmers £900.37, Loosebeare 20 gimmers £1035.30 (McCartneys).
