Inaugural Lanark Crackers Sale goes with a bang

The inaugural Lanark Crackers Sale of in-lamb Texels on Friday evening (7 December) saw a top call of 7000gns, with further sales at 4400gns and 4000gns twice.

Leading the evening’s prices was a gimmer from the Allanfauld flock of Archie and John MacGregor, Kilsyth. This was the MacGregor’s first in the ring, XMM1713247, an ET-bred daughter of Garngour Yeltson out of a dam by Tullylagan Tonka and going back Strathbogie Stifler. Sold with an index of 371, she was offered in lamb to Hilltop Brigadier and was snapped up by Alan and Hugh Blackwood, for the Auldhouseburn flock.

Following her at 4400gns was one from Myfyr Evans Rhaeadr flock. This was a ewe lamb by the homebred Rhaeadr Ace and out of a ewe by Glenside Whiz Kid, she goes back to a Baltier ewe by Grey Peel Rambo and was bought by David McKerrow and family for the Nochnary flock.

Two then sold at 4000gns, with the first of these being the very first in the ring from Allan Campbell’s Strawfrank flock. This gimmer, CNK1700533, is by Ballynahone Yorkie and out of a Strathbogie Usher daughter, going back to Cambwell Laird. She sold in-lamb to the Garngour Awesome and with an index of 339. Buying this one was Jamie Gibson, for the Heather Park flock, Forth.

Second to make this price was another of the Allanfauld gimmers, XMM1713275. This ET-bred daughter of Knap You’re The Man is out of a Garngour Ultimatum daughter and sold having been served by the 17,000gns Garngour Bullet. This full sister to the 24,000gns Allanfauld Am The Man was taken by Messrs Bradley-Farmer, Dumfries.

The same buyers then paid 2600gns for another from the same home, XMM1713298. This is another by You’re The Man and this time out of a Garngour Ultimatum-sired dam. She was sold in-lamb to Garngour Bullet and with an index of 387.

Another at 2600gns came from the Brackenridge flock of Andrew Neilson. This was NAB1702924, a Knock Yardsman daughter out of a dam by Crailloch Victor and going back to Mossknowe Pudsey. She sold having been served by Haddo Breadwinner and was the pick of James Cowe, Orkney.

Another pair then made the next best call of 2400gns, with the first of these being another from the MacGregor family, XMM1713292. Sired by Garngour Yeltsin, she is out of a Cambwell Uist daughter and was carrying to Garngour Bullet. Sold with an index of 471, she was taken by Messrs Douglas, Catslackburn.

Myfyr Evans then sold another ewe lamb at 2400gns, with this being a full ET sister to his previous 4400gns sale. This one was taken by Albert and George Howie for the Knock flock.

Then making 2100gns was Cameron Gauld’s best of the evening from the Cairnam flock. This was GCF1702913, a Knap You’re the Man daughter out of a Tullagh Saracen dam. She was offered in-lamb to Hexel Blockbuster and went home with Gordon Gray for the Ettrick flock.
