Farmhill gimmer leads January Gems sale at 3600gns

Top call at Saturday’s January Gems Sale, Ballymena, was a 3600gns bid for a Farmhill Wizz Kid sired gimmer from Brian Williamson’s Farmhill flock.

This was WBO1700173, a gimmer out of a dam by Glenside Top Gun and going back to Annan Jewel. She sold carrying twins to Strathbogie Best Bet and was taken by Gary Beacom, Fivemiletown.

Second best at 2600gns was Stanley and Martin Warnock’s Straidarran gimmer WXS1700432, a Cowal Yogi Bear daughter out of a dam by Baltier Panther and in-lamb with twins to Tamnamoney Bonkers. She was bought by Martina Conway, Plumbridge.

Close behind at 2500gns was another from the same home, WXS1700403. She’s by Foyle View Wally and out of a Knock Travis dam, with lines back to Douganhill McFly. In-lamb to Tamnamoney Bonkers again, she sold to A Christie, Ballymoney.

Then at 2300gns was WXS1700388, again from the Warnocks. This one is another by Cowal Yogi Bear and is out of a Stainton Victor daughter. She sold carrying to Tamnamoney Bonkers again and was bought by R J Watters, Dromore.

Selling for 1800gns was the best of the day from John Trimble, TYC1700691, an ET bred gimmer from the Curley flock. She’s by Millar’s Yankee and out of a Strathbogie Smokey Blue daughter. Going back to Mellor Vale Masterpiece, she sold in-lamb to Strathbogie Yes Sir and was bought by Martina Conway.

A 1500gns call then saw the Mullan family sell one from their Blue Gates flock, MUC1700414. She’s a Tullylagan Yukon Gold daughter and is out of a dam by Ettrick My Jinks. She was offered carrying twins to Drumgooland Aga Khan and was the pick of J McGill, Ballycastle.

Then at 1300gns was Adrian Liggett’s pen topper from the Corbo flock, LIG1700458. She’s a Tullagh Yogi daughter out of a Glenside Topgun-sired dam and sold in-lamb to Strathbogie Best Bet. She found a new home with John Kidd, Bunclody.

And selling for 1200gns was another of the Curley entries, TYC1700680. This Millar’s Yankee daughter is out of a Strathbogie Smokey Blue daughter and sold in-lamb to Strathbogie Yes Sir. She was bought by Owen Donohoe, Enniskillen.
