Twilight Texels hit 5000gns high

This year’s Twilight Texels sale of in-lamb gimmers and ewe lambs saw a top call of 5000gns, with a good trade for all consignments.

Heading up the prices was a gimmer from the Wilkinson family’s entry, WGA1502063 from their Arkle flock. This Milnbank Van Wilder daughter is out of a dam by Curley Orlando and sold in lamb to the 24,000gns Midlock Yorkie. She carries an index of 256 and was bought by A E Jones, Llangadog, Dyfed.

Second best at 4500gns was a gimmer from the Loosebeare flock of the Quick family, with this being QEL1505538, a Whitehart Spot On daughter out of a dam by Loosebeare Oh Yes and in-lamb to the homebred Loosbeare Voomer. This one sold in a two-way split to Thomas and Vicky Illingworth, Lockerbie, and C Cornthwaite, Clitheroe.

Then making 4000gns was one from the Bennett family’s Plasucha flock. This gimmer, BFE1505109. Sired by Crailloch Va Va Voom she is out of a Connachan Sharky daughter and sold in-lamb to Eden Valley Wiz Kid and with an index of 301. Buying this one was J G Morton, Kirkland, Penrith.

Another from the Wilkinsons then went at 3200gns, with this being there second in the ring, WGA1502072. Another by Milnbank Van Wilder she’s out of a Cambwell Rob Roy daughter and again sold in-lamb to Midlock Yorkie. She had been reserve champion at Cockermouth Show as a lamb. This one found a new home with Carl Henry Bellis, Brynford, Holywell.

Following her at 2800gns was the best from the Halbeath consignment from Robin and Caroline Orr. This was ONH1500302, a twin born daughter of homebred sire Halbeath VIP out of a dam by Milnbank Seabird. Again in-lamb to Yorkie she had been first prize gimmer at Perth Show and was knocked down to N R Woodmass, Brunstock, Carlisle.

Then at 2200gns was another from the same home, ONH1500272. ET bred this gimmer is by Hartside Volt and out of a Hull House Special Brew daughter bred in the Loosebeare flock. She sold in-lamb to Yorkie and having been breed champion at West Fife in the summer. She found a new home with M Patterson, Crumlin, Co Antrim.

Also at the same money was a ewe lamb from Tomos Evans’ Welsh flock. This was ESW1600646 and ET bred daughter of Charben Warhorse out of a Milnbank Tank daughter. This lamb with an index of 232 sold to Jeff Aiken buying for Procters Farm, Wennington, Lancaster.

Three then sold at 2000gns, with the first being another Halbeath gimmer. This was ONH1500281. This triplet-born gimmer is by Halbeath VIP and out of a Milnbank Seabird daughter and sold carrying to Midlock Yorkie. She was the pick of J Gray, Whittingham, Alnwick.

Another from the Welsh flock sold at the same money, with this being another ET bred ewe lamb by Charben Warhorse. This full ET sister to the pen leader sold to Page Farm Partnership, Rookwith, Ripon.

And the final 2000gns call came for the best from Iolo Prys Jones’ Llangwm flock, JLI1601304. This ewe lamb by Baltier Vampire is out of a dam by Douganhill McFly and sold with an index of 284, having been interbreed champion at Denbigh and Flint Show. Buying this one was Archie Hamilton, Lanark.
