The Innes family’s Strathbogie flock shone the brightest at this year’s Christmas Stars sale, taking the top three prices, including the sale leading bid of 22,000gns.
Selling at this price was their first in the ring, IJS1400787, a Strathbogie Untouchable gimmer that had stood second at the Highland and reserve champion at Turriff. She’s an ET bred gimmer out of a dam by Clinterty Par One and going back to Haddo Knoxie. Selling in-lamb to Millar’s Windbrook, she sold with a recipient carrying an embryo from a successful flush and was knocked down to Edward Pugh for the Glanllyn flock, Bala.
Second top at 13,000gns was another from the same home, IJS1400723, a Tullagh Saracen daughter out of a Glenside Ring A Ding sired dam. This one goes back to a Milnbank ewe by Glenside Gurka and again sold in-lamb to Millars Windbrook. She was taken by Charlie Boden for the Sportsmans flock, Macclesfield, Cheshire.
And completing the top price trio for Strathbogie was a Garngour Ultimatum daughter, IJS1400766. She’s out of a dam by Castlecairn Kung Foo Fighter which has bred females to 7000gns and was again carrying to Millars Windbrook. Buying her in a two-way split at 8000gns were Gordon Gray of the Ettrick flock and David Gray of the Tima flock, both Selkirk.
Selling at 5000gns was a Deveronvale gimmer from Graham Morrisson. This was MGV1400563, a daughter of Strathbogie Terminator out of a dam by Glenside Razzle Dazzle and in lamb to Millars Windbrook. She was the pick of Donald Rankin, Portree, Isle of Skye.
Then taking a 4500gns call was Robbie Wilson when he sold a Strathbogie Untouchable daughter to Graham Morrison. This was LYM1401302, a gimmer of out a dam by Mossknowe Pudsey and in lamb to Glenside Willy Nilly. She sold with an index of 294 and is a maternal sister to the 5000gns Milnbank Vince Prince.
Charlie Boden sold his best of the day at the same money when J M Stewart, Comber, Co Down, bought at Milnbank Ur The Boy daughter out of a dam by Cambwell Rob Roy. This was BGS1401077, a gimmer with an index of 302 and in lamb to Mellor Vale Wildcat. She is from the same dam as the 10,000gns Sportsmans Ustinov.
Robbie Wilson then sold another at 4000gns, with this being LYM1401411. Again by Strathbogie Untouchable she is out of a dam by Glenside Razzle Dazzle and sold carrying to Glenside Wild Boy. She as the pick of Michael Mennie, Four Glen, Turriff.
Also making 4000gns was the best of the day from the Campbell family’s Cowal flock, CKC1404654, an ET bred gimmer by Milnbank Ur The Boy out of a dam by Kelso Pavarotti and in lamb to Glenside Willie Winkie. Her dam is a full sister to Cowal Rob Roy and Sportsmans Supreme and she sold with an index of 299 to Procters Farm, Clitheroe.
After that at 3200gns was another from Charlie Boden, with this being BGS1401258, a Milnbank Ur The Boy daughter out of a Tullylagan Tonka daughter. This one sold in lamb to Mellor Vale Wildcat and with an index of 297. She was bought by C Asher and H Maxwell-Jones, Brailsford, Ashbourne.
Two then shared a 3000gns call, with both coming from the Deveronvale pen of Graham Morrison. The first was MGV1400576, a Garngour Ultimatum daughter out of a dam by Glenside Razzle Dazzle and in lamb to Bradleys Wonderworld. She sold to Sandy Lee, Fraserburgh.
The other at this level was MGV1400575 an ET bred gimmer by Ultimatum again and out of the same dam as the last. She sold carrying to Millars Windbrook and was taken by an undisclosed buyer.
A trio then followed that at 2500gns, with the first of these being from the Innes family, IJS1400761. This one is by the homebred Strathbogie Untouchable and out of a dam by Clinterty Par One. In lamb to Glenside Wild Card she sold to S McCollam, Crumlin, Co Antrim.
Another from the same home took the same price when selling to Liam Browne, Letterkenny, Co Donegal. This was IJS1400584, a Baltier Thunderbird daughter out of a dam by Milnbank Sound Investment and in lamb to Glenside Wild Boy.
The final 2500gns sale was for a gimmer from Robbie Wilson. This was LYM1401288, an ET bred Strathbogie Untouchable daughter out of a dam by Mossknowe Pudsey. She sold in lamb to Glenside Wild Boy and was taken by R Alexander, Aucheebredeie, Aberdeenshire.
